HYALURONIC ACID
HYALURONIC ACID is a polysaccharide and as a gel-like, transparent liquid, it is a constituent of that part of the tissue, which lies between the cells and surrounds it like a mesh (extra-cellular matrix).
It occurs in several tissues and liquids of our body, especially in the eyes, joints and skin. In the respective zones, it takes over specific tasks and acts as filling material, joint lubricant and structural fabric, among others. The maximum concentration of HYALURONIC ACID is found in the skin. The proportion of HYALURONIC ACID in the body reduces continuously as a result of ageing, and thus, the skin has only about 60 % of the original quantity of HYALURONIC ACID after about 40 years. Because of this change in the micro-structure, the skin loses its youthful tensioning force - lines and small wrinkles occur, and skin becomes increasingly poorer in moisture.

Due to the extraordinarily high capacity of the HYALURONIC ACID to retain water, large quantities of water can be retained, as a result of which, wrinkles become milder and the elasticity and silkiness of the skin gets enhanced.
